The new Lappeenranta City Theatre relocated from its old premises to the third floor of shopping centre IsoKristiina, upstairs from the shops and restaurants. A renovation of the old theatre would have proved infeasible and an extension would have been nearly as impossible.

The top floor of the shopping centre was designed by architect Samuli Woolston. It was completed in 2015. The theatre's location within a shopping centre – nearly unique even on the international scale – takes the theatre arts back to its roots, in the midst of people.

While the property is still very new, it has been predicted to have a long and illustrious future. The third floor of the shopping centre, hailed as a forerunner of the changes underway in the world of theatre and theatre architecture, now provides unforgettable and different experiences.
